Tips for Booking Cheap Flights to Canada

by | Jan 15, 2019 | Travel and Vacations

Travelling from Australia to Canada means spending at least 22 hours in the air. Looking for cheap flights to Canada may involve a longer journey, depending on the flights we book.

While it makes sense to know how to pass the time on a flight, it is also sensible to know how we can find the cheapest flights to start with. There are three things to bear in mind when we’re beginning our search for a good deal.

Which Airport?

Canada is a huge country with lots of major airports, including those in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. Similarly, there are several places we could fly out of when leaving Australia. Prices will vary according to those two factors, so it makes sense to consider if any deviations from the obvious A to B journey might be cheaper.

Book Early

Cheap flights to Canada are often good value when booked earlier. Several months ahead of time is ideal, but we should be wary of booking earlier than that. The later we leave it to make our booking, the less likely we are to have lots of options to choose from. More choice means more prices, and the chance to find a cheaper one that fits our budget.

Multiple Flights

It’s not always cheaper to go direct. Securing a flight to somewhere else before going on to the destination may take longer, but it can save a lot of money. If we view the direct price first, we can then look for other ways to reach our destination in Canada.

For example, it’s possible to fly from various Australian cities to Canadian cities with one or two connections rather than going direct. In some cases, cheap flights to Canada are easier to find this way.
